Located inside a landmark building designed by architect A. Page Brown in the Beaux Arts style, Ferry Building Marketplace takes up the entire ground floor, the former baggage handling area of a ferry terminal. At its completion in 1898, this building was the largest project ever undertaken in the city. Today, the marketplace attracts foodies from around the country with its small shops selling everything from expensive mushrooms and sourdough bread to award-winning wines, cheeses, and chocolate cupcakes. The plaza just outside the building hosts local farmers and merchants selling organic produce grown in the area, as well as fast foods like burgers, pizzas, and tacos. Don't miss a stop at one of the marketplace restaurants, serving fresh seafood dishes and signature cocktails. Beautiful building from the outside. Very busy on our visit. Lots of independent food shops to try and a good view of the bay.

This is a beautiful building. They do a great job of maintaining a clean facility. It's a great place to come and visit. Plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping. They have a farmers market every weekend. Everything looks fresh and delicious. I do feel they could use more seating indoors to accommodate everyone and others with disabilities. It rained today, so it was impossible to sit outside. They do have outdoor seating as well. Easy to access using public transportation 👍👍

Honestly was so surprised about the ferry building. I read about the changes the place underwent and have to say, it's terrific! We found parking in the area difficult to find, but, it is right on the tram line so has a number of stops right out front. Inside we found the ferry building indoor market, really good variety of vendors with an amazing selection of foods, clothes, and other items. It was a very comfortable place to be and there is a really good burger place with outside seating to just watch the world pass by (Gott). Take some time to have a look round the visitors centre there, lots of history about the ferry building and also the bay area itself. You will also find toilets here. You can walk round the back of the building and see some of the guys fishing, but you will also find benches and good views too!
