Hi, I'm Will Lydgate, co-owner of the farm with my sister Emily. We're the fifth generation of the Lydgate family on Kauai, and we're dedicated to sharing our knowledge, so ten years ago we started the Steelgrass Chocolate Farm Tour, the only chocolate tour and tasting on a genuine family farm on Kauai.
We're also growing our farm, expanding from our current thousand chocolate trees toward our goal of four thousand. We are already Kauai's largest chocolate grower, and reaching that goal will make our orchard one of the largest in the state -- which also means in the country, since Hawaii is the only state where chocolate trees will grow.

My husband and I enjoyed the chocolate tour during our honeymoon in Kauai. It was one of our favorite tours of the trip!! Our tour guide, Henry, was extremely informative and made the experience fun and entertaining. It was also a great value - we tried many local fruits and a TON of chocolate. Our favorites were the dark chocolate covered macadamia nuts and the cacao nibs. Loved trying a cacao seed for the first time. This will truly change how you think about chocolate - I liked learning about chocolate production and understanding how to be a better consumer (buying from companies who support their farmers - chocolates with the direct trade label). Highly recommend!! Once they get a factory, I hope they will sell on the mainland. I'm a huge dark chocolate fan, and the quality is outstanding 😋

Amazing tour. If you love wine tasting, chocolate and fruit you'll love this experience. We walked through the farm, they do have rides if walking is rough for you. As we walked the guide identified different plants, matching any tour of a botanical garden. We then sampled local fruit and chocolates from around the world. They explained the chocolate making process and differences between chocolates. Definitely one of my favorite experiences on the island.
