Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Step out of San Juan with an excursion to El Yunque National Forest in El Yunque National Forest--about 1h 10 min away. There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Old San Juan, appreciate the extensive heritage of Sitio Histórico de San Juan, get engrossed in the history at Museum of History, Anthropology and Art, and make a trip to Biaggi & Faure Fine Art.

Do a combination of car and ferry from Ponce to Culebra in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of shuttle and flight; or do a combination of car, bus, taxi, and ferry. When traveling from Ponce in June, plan for somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Culebra: temperatures range from 89°F by day to 79°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 4th (Sat) to allow enough time to fly back home.
