San Juan — 2 nights

Walled City

Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Get a sense of the local culture at Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery and Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Paseo de la Princesa and Caribbean Trading Company Store. Step out of San Juan with an excursion to El Yunque National Forest in El Yunque National Forest--about 1h 10 min away. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Old San Juan, appreciate the extensive heritage of Sitio Histórico de San Juan, and don't miss a visit to La Puerta de San Juan.

For ratings, where to stay, other places to visit, and more tourist information, use the San Juan journey builder website.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiport is Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. In June, daytime highs in San Juan are 89°F, while nighttime lows are 78°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
