Panorama Mesdag, a large cylindrical painting of a seaside town, gives the viewer an impression of being inside the landscape. Stand atop a sand dune and observe villagers at work, fishing boats docked on the seashore, and houses in the distance. Along with the realistic painting style, the feel of the place is augmented by the sand and beach objects placed below the painting on hilly terrain, making the illusion more striking. The piece was completed in 1881 by Mesdag, his wife, and his student painters. It's interesting and included in the museum card. That's the reason to visit. I won't be satisfied if I paid the full price tickets.

Museum of art with the specific panoramic room. I haven’t spent a lot of time looking at the paintings. My main purpose was the panorama which is really well done. The personnel from the museum was really nice and caring. You have lockers to put your stuff in (for free). There’s also a small cafe inside the museum and of course a gift shop. + Museumkaart friendly

I wish I could give this more than five stars. At first, I thought we had entered an art museum dedicated to a relatively obscure artist. After a few rooms of respectable seascapes and history, you climb spiral stairs to view a 360-degree painted panorama of a local beach in the 1800s. This 14.5 by 114.5 meter canvas completely surrounds the viewer with images of the ocean, boats, people, dunes, and the local fishing village. Everything gives you the illusion that you are literally a part of all around you. This is 15 euros well-spent.
