Awesome old fort with 6 levels. History is written out in English and Spanish. Amazing views. Probably not enough info for history buffs but great for the rest of us.

There is so much to see and so much history here. The views are stunning and the structure is amazing. To think people could build something on this scale in the 1500's is mind blowing. There's something for everyone, if you're visiting alone or have a family. The ticket is also good for the castle, and you can split up the visits into different days. The fort is A LOT to take in, the castle is a lot easier. Also, there's a lot of local food and shopping nearby. A lot of people fly kites out front, it's neat to see and great for kids.

This one of the most historical areas in Puerto Rico of the spanish colonization. You can go in and see how the Castillo is and have a great view of the ocean. In this same exact area with have a big field in which we bring our children to fly kites because it's really windy in this area. Bring some water bottles and prepare yourself for a long peaceful walk in the old San Juan area. Really highly recommended to go with kids during day time.
