When Suarez closed its operations Gustavo reached out to Ecuadorian artisans and began to pull together the people, processes and designs that would create one of the premier authentic Panama Hat brands in the world. Today El Galpon features high to premium quality Panama Hats in a wide range of custom styles and colors for both men and women. This was a fun shop to get lost in: beautiful, quality hats and also hand-rolled cigars. We also purchased, with Priscilla’s guided help, two lovely watches with wooden bands that I’ve never seen anywhere else. This shop only sells top quality items and Priscilla took her time to understand what we were looking for. I recommend you at least poke your hea inside the shop! It’s a bit tucked away, from the road, go through a door that leads to little shops and a restaurant- it’s the first door on your right.

Lady working there was rude and also lied to me when I asked her if the jewelry was silver. I’ve been wearing my ring for two weeks and it turns out to be silver plated and the copper is being exposed. Worst store ever. Waste of $40 for me and my time!
