Take a trip down to Playa La Chiva, a quiet and scenic stretch of coast looking out on the Caribbean Sea. The still, clear waters offer great conditions for swimming, particularly for those looking for a safe place to let children splash around. Colored an inviting blue, the waters complement the white stretch of sand, backed by palms and shrubs. The rocky areas of the water provide excellent snorkeling spots, so bring your gear to admire the schools of colorful tropical fish. PutPlaya La Chiva into our Isla de Vieques tour itinerary builder app and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • I loved this beach. It has crystal blue waters and plenty of palm trees and gazebos around it for shade. You need a car, preferably a Jeep or SUV to get here. The road to get to Chiva is unpaved...

  • Playa La Chiva really is picture post card perfect. White sand, swaying palm trees, multi-hued warm blue water, and a nice breeze. There are also lots of cabanas to give shade. What is really...

  • Great beach. Loved it. We were the only ones in the beach at one point. Be careful with the beach and seed burr. They close the gates sharply at 7:30pm.
  • This was my favorite beach on Vieques hands down. The water was crystal clear, the sand was silky, and there was barely any seaweed in the water. The water was refreshing and pretty calm. You must enter the National Wildlife Refuge to get to this beach and just be aware that there are no palm trees for shade on the beach.
