Create an itinerary including Mýrdalsjökull
Experience the thrill and the beauty of Mýrdalsjökull, one of Iceland’s foremost natural wonders. The peak of the glacier reaches 1,493 m (4,898 ft) and its thick ice covers the active Katla volcano. Unlike other glaciers that you can only admire from a distance, here you can get up close, and even step onto the ice and taste the frigid water. You'll be able to choose from a variety of tours ranging from snowmobile and Jeep rides, to dog sledding and ice climbing. Because of crevasses and quickly changing and extreme weather conditions, touring the glacier with an experienced guide is recommended. • Water bubbling out of the mountain as you walk a path overlooking a body of water with mountainous terrain behind as you round a bend to see a wall of ice and a field of snow behind. Absolutely...

  • How you gonna give a glacier less than 5 stars.
  • It is a spectacular feeling to walk on to the glacier. Thousands of year old ice beneeth your feet.
