Hraunfosser is a great lava plain which has a charm about it as it spreads out along the river for several hundred feet. Proceed briefly upstream to see the less impressive Barnafoss Parking is easy.... more

Maybe my favorite waterfalls! They are so gorgeous and water just coming out everywhere into the river in small and big waterfalls. Breathtaking!

Hraunfossar ( Lava Falls ) is in Borgarfjorour distric a majestic series of waterfalls streaming out of the Hallmundarhraun lava field and is right next to Barnafoss ( children falls ) also close by is Viogelmir the longest Cave in Iceland. There is different trails that gave you multiple point of view of the falls and I like the contrast of colors the black lava rock with the turquoise blue waters. You can walk both waterfalls easily in less than an hour. I probably recommend to come early if you want to avoid the crowds seen is relatively close to Reykjavik around 1 hour and 40 minutes drive and right by the Ring road so is an easy access to everyone.
