#3 of 62 in Parks in Portland
The walled Lan Su Chinese Garden is a result of the friendship between Portland and its sister city in China, Suzhou. The gardens are intended to provide insight into both Chinese culture and nature. Suzhou artisans built the 3,700 sq m (40,000 sq ft) garden using 454 metric tons (500 tons) of rock brought from China. It features mostly indigenous Chinese plants. Stroll through the peaceful gardens to discover more than 400 species, including, orchids, bamboos, and water flowers. You can also find a number of typical Chinese garden structures, such as covered walkways, water features, and bridges. Stop in the teahouse to experience Chinese tea culture. • A very pleasant garden, with an idyllic place in the enclosure to taste a tea. We also enjoyed a classical concert in the middle of the weekday afternoon. It's a treat.

  • This garden is very peaceful and has plenty to offer. My girlfriend and I easily spent two hours here appreciating the architecture and the plats. Favorite part was the tea House though. Very small and intimate set up and friendly staff served a variety of Chinese teas and small dishes. Dishes ranged from dumplings to moon cakes. I recommend trying a few.
  • If you love Asian gardens, you can do the whole garden in 20, 30 minutes while your waiting for a restaurant reservation. The tea house with the harpist is so cool. Really a little drop of China in Portland. So glad we stopped here.
