Erddig, Wrexham

4.6
#1 of 8 in Historic Sites in Wrexham
Capture the splendor of early-18th-century living at Erddig, one of England’s finest stately homes. Set on 485 hectares (1,200 acres) of country gardens, the house offers a thorough look at the functioning of an 18th-century estate. Tour the upstairs rooms to admire the lavish antique furnishings before heading downstairs to see the servants' quarters and work spaces. Walk or take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the gardens to visit the many outbuildings that line the property. Park for free on site and bring a picnic to enjoy while sitting in the walled garden. Put Erddig on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Wrexham trip maker tool .

  • The gardens are absolutely stunning and if you head into the gardens and keep the hall to your left, then follow the path right and the end you'll reach the awesome Wolf's Den play area. This isn't a traditional play area with slides, but has giant wooden structures to climb, ropes to swing from and dens to build. Within this area there are compost toilets, though for proper hand-washing head back to the main courtyard toilets (which are beautifully clean). The whole place is very child friendly, as attested to by my being able to take four children aged seven and under in alone!
  • Had a lovely visit to Erddig Hall with my best mate. We both had a really good time. The building was lovely as were the gardens. Highly recommend a visit to here!
  • A beautiful property. Been here a couple of times now and it's great to see how things change through the seasons. You can choose to visit the house and gardens, or just the gardens (the house may be closed or partially closed in the winter). Has a shop, cafe, toilet facilities and plenty of helpful staff.
  • This probably one of the best National trust places we've visited with the children. The grounds and gardens are lovely and there's ample space for child to play and run around. Good for picnicking as well if so desired.
  • Lovely interesting house and very pleasant gardens. As a member, it's a lovely spot to go and just sit on a deckchair and enjoy the sunshine on a summer's day.
