Albert Dock, Liverpool

4.6
Albert Dock is among the country's most architecturally and historically significant collections of buildings, and houses Liverpool's most exciting attractions. It opened in 1846 as Britain's first structure built from cast iron, brick, and stone, and was the world's first fireproof construction. Start in the Beatles Story exhibit, where you'll learn all about the four Liverpudlians and their incredible impact on modern music. View some of the most acclaimed British and international contemporary art exhibits at the Tate Liverpool. Head into Mersey Maritime Museum to discover Liverpool's maritime heritage, and study ancient and modern slavery in the International Slavery Museum. You'll also find a large selection of cafes, restaurants, and shops among the buildings' grand colonnades. Some of the museums have an entrance fee, but a stroll around the complex is free. • The docks have their importance to ships able to influence to the port. The level of water in a day can increase or sleep. 8 m-hence the tama and premier port. Today at the docks are few and far between, but this place has its own climate-thanks to the Tate Museum, the Museum of the history of the Beatles, many souvenir shops or restaurants. They are suitable for the nature of this place-perfect for a slow walk and explore the city.

  • A rushed booking found us staying in the docks area of the city. Many places of interest, including museums and the big wheel. Only thing we found was that there did not seem to be any places around t...  more »

  • Fantastic gallery. Superb for my 8 year old Daughter to experience a wide variety of quality modern art in many different media, and expand her imagination. Lichtenstein exhibition was great and to my surprise free. It also had an interactive element for my daughter which She loved. Many famous and not so famous artists represented. A fabulous area for children to create their own art to take home. Gallery staff were lovely. Also a fun interactive area for a nice break from gallery viewing.
  • A wonderful place to walk on sunny days, to watch the sunset. full of people, a safe place. Is amazing how the colors of the raw match up with those of the buildings,a movie set. Super clean, with facilities for people with special needs. has place to eat, has place to rest after a long walk. besides a super romantic look.
  • Great historical dock. Modernised with plenty to see do eat and drink. Looks amazing. Also used for Captain America filming in previous years. Nice to see so many restaurants shops and museums. A very nice jewel in the crown of Liverpool's culture.
  • My first time in Liverpool and I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. Absolutely love Albert Dock. So many options of where to eat, a number of galleries (Tate) and museums (International Museum of Slavery, Maritime Museum etc )and a small shopping area. It helps that you're surrounded by the river. Pretty quiet at the time I visited for a conference but another conference started at the exhibition centre on my last day and I noted crowd dispersal was super quick and very efficient. Added bonus of shopping centre within walking distance of Albert Dock including Liverpool One, St John and many others I can't recall at the moment
  • Third visit to Mattel play and it's as enjoyable as ever. Was lucky to visit outside of term time and it makes a difference as there's much more space for little ones to enjoy. Three unique areas and excellent staff. Well worth a visit for Thomas fans.
