Alton Towers, Alton

England's largest theme park, Alton Towers rarely disappoints visitors of any age. If you want your adrenaline to flow, hop on the Smiler, the world's first 14-loop roller coaster. Let go of gravity and fly under footpaths and past trees and rocks on Air. Get wet on Congo River rapids and ride the runaway mine train. Let the special effects of the 4-D cinema dazzle you, and view over 300 species of fish, including sharks and rays, at Sharkbait Reef. Bring your bathing suit if you plan to visit the waterpark here. There are cartoon-themed attractions for little ones, and you can book a room at one of the on-site hotels if you wish to spend the night. • Without doubt the best theme park in the UK, always has been. Considering the price of entry, charging another £6 for parking is insulting. Been going here for over 30 years. Seen it grow and evolve, for better and for worse. After the Smiler tragedy things seemed to be back on track. If the weather is good there will be long queues - for some of the newer rides of over an hour. For better value go early season or later in the year and gamble on the weather. That way quite often you will be able to get on all the popular rides and the queues will be much shorter. Tip: take your own food and refreshments. Prices are high for what is essentially poor quality food.
  • Better in 2018. I love the new bits in Duel but some bits still aren't working unfortunately. Wicker man is a great addition to the park and much faster and better than I imagined. Park operations seem much better and I think there are more staff around. Wicker man has adopted a Disney numbered air gate system which is a huge step forward. All in all much better this year.
  • A very good Theme Park that invests in new novel rides. They don’t always hit the spot. However they must be commended on their commitment to innovation. Recent investment called loving care has seen some of the older attractions spruced up. A great variety of rides and attractions provide entertainment for all ages. Some of my favourite rides in the UK are here including Oblivion, Nemesis and Smiler. However the mention of Smiler, brings the one tarnish to this otherwise shiny pin. Should have this ride been removed as a mark of respect? I don’t know the answer to that, however I feel it possibly should have been.
  • Came here for my 1st wedding anniversary, glad we came from two days, only managed to get on half the rides both days.. Food is scarce, not many places to get proper meals, but the roller coaster restaurant is amazing and I'd got to Alton towers again just to go there!! Rides are amazing, queueing times are a little long but that's to be expected at a theme park and not worth knocking down a star.. Worth going over two days definitely! We booked a hotel in Derby, 30 min drive away, and 2 days in the park for £130 which was really good!
  • It was a enjoyable day out but many rides were not working so the rides that were queue times were higher.. The cable cars were also not working most of the day so getting to opposite sides of the park was a trek.. It was a very hot day I asked member of staff if there were any drinking water fountain and he said no that's something the park need to install in several areas.. Apart from that if you got discounted tickets it's fine but certainly not if you paid full ticket price.
