Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
On the 24th (Mon), stroll around South Bank Parklands and then walk around Roma Street Parkland. Keep things going the next day: take some stellar pictures from Mount Coot-tha Lookout and then identify plant and animal life at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

Cairns

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Wed): get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, then discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and then walk around Anzac Park. On the next day, take an unforgettable tour with a helicopter tour, take in nature's colorful creations at Botanical Gardens, and then trek along Esplanade Boardwalk.

You can fly from Brisbane to Cairns in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or drive. A lush headland that's part of the forested Daintree Region, Cape Tribulation was so named by Lieutenant--later Captain--Cook in 1770, when his ship ran aground in the area.
On the 28th (Fri), experience rural life at Cape Trib Exotic Fruit Farm, go for a walk through Marrdja Botanical Walk, then experience rural life at Cape Trib Farm, and finally kick back and relax at Cape Tribulation Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: get a new perspective on nature at Daintree Entomological museum, trot along with a tour on horseback, then kick back and relax at Myall Beach, and finally hike along Dubuji Boardwalk.

Drive from Cairns to Cape Tribulation in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. August in Cape Tribulation sees daily highs of 31°C and lows of 19°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sat) so you can go by car to Port Douglas.
