Walled City

Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Attractions like Luquillo Beach and Old San Juan make great kid-friendly stops. Explore San Juan's surroundings by going to El Yunque Rain Forest (in El Yunque National Forest) and Monkey Threads (in Luquillo). The adventure continues: appreciate the extensive heritage of Sitio Histórico de San Juan, pause for some serene contemplation at Catedral Basilica Menor de San Juan Bautista, stroll through Condado Beach, and explore the world behind art at Museo de Las Americas.
