— 4 nights
Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Reykjavik: Thingvellir National Park (in Thingvellir) and Thermal Spas (in Grindavik). There's still lots to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Hallgrimskirkja, contemplate the long history of Landnámssýningin/The Settlement Exhibition, appreciate the history behind Sun Voyager, and see the interesting displays at Volcano House.

Plan my day in Reykjavik using traveler tips and tourist information provided by Inspirock.

Expect little chillier temperatures when traveling from Rome in January; daily highs in Reykjavik reach 3°C and lows reach -1°C.
