Sitting on the banks of the picturesque Olfusa River, the laid-back town of Selfoss provides a good location to relax and enjoy some of the country's natural delights.
Get out of town with these interesting Selfoss side-trips: Strokkur (in Geysir), Bruarfoss Waterfall (in Brekkuskogur) and Gullfoss Falls (in Blaskogabyggd). Next up on the itinerary: explore the striking landscape of Thingvellir National Park, identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, stop by Seljalandsfoss, and contemplate the geological forces at Volcano Eyjafjallajokull.

For more things to do, photos, where to stay, and other tourist information, go to the Selfoss online trip itinerary builder.

Philadelphia, USA to Selfoss is an approximately 11.5-hour combination of flight and car. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 5 hours traveling from Philadelphia to Selfoss. When traveling from Philadelphia in February, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Selfoss: temperatures range from 39°F by day to 30°F at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Wed) so you can go by car to Vik.
