Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Eagle Street Pier and Queensland Museum & Sciencentre. Explore Brisbane's surroundings by going to Kondalilla Falls (in Montville), Maleny (Maleny Dairies & Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve) and Springbrook (Natural Bridge & Springbrook National Park). Seventeen Seventy, also written as 1770, is a town and locality in Gladstone Region, Queensland, Australia, built on the site of the second landing by James Cook and the crew of HM Bark Endeavour in May 1770 (Cook's first landing in what is now the state of Queensland). Step off the beaten path and head to Joseph Banks Regional Park and Wild Cattle Island National Park. Get out of town with these interesting Seventeen Seventy side-trips: Lake Awoonga (in Benaraby) and Tannum Sands (Millennium Esplanade and Tannum Sands Beach & Canoe Point Beach and Parklands). Spend the 27th (Sat) exploring nature at Kroombit Tops National Park. There's still lots to do: see what you can catch with a fishing tour and appreciate the history behind Lieutenant James Cook Monument Cairn.
