Tucked snugly beneath a steep, craggy mount--known as Castle Hill--the vibrant city of Townsville is as picturesque as its backdrop.
You'll explore and learn at Museum of Tropical Queensland and Perc Tucker Regional Gallery. Get some historical perspective at Kissing Point Fort and St James Cathedral. Step out of Townsville to go to Mutarnee and see Paluma Range National Park, which is approximately 1h 20 min away. There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, trek along Many Peaks Walking Track, get some thrills out on the water with a waterskiing or jet-skiing adventure, and kick back and relax at The Strand.
