Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
You'll get in some beach time at Praia de Lavadores and Praia do Carneiro. Get a sense of the local culture at Palacio da Bolsa and Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral). There's still lots to do: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco, view the masterpieces at Belomonte 20, and enjoy the sand and surf at Praia do Homem do Leme.

Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Appreciate the collections at Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and A Arte da Terra. For shopping fun, head to Avenida da Liberdade or Rossio Square. Explore Lisbon's surroundings by going to Sintra (Castelo dos Mouros, Park and National Palace of Pena, &more). Barcelona, the country’s second-largest city, is a cosmopolitan urban center known for its throbbing youthful energy and stellar architecture.
Head to La Boqueria and En construcciofor plenty of shopping. Basilica of the Sagrada Familia and El Barri Gòtic will appeal to history buffs. Step out of Barcelona to go to Begur and see L'illa Roja, which is approximately 1h 40 min away.
