For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Visit Secret Beach (Pata Prieta) and Caracas Beach for some beach relaxation. Escape the urban bustle at Kayaking & Canoeing and La Chiva. There's lots more to do: head off the coast to Vieques Island, tour the pleasant surroundings at Sun Bay Beach, take a leisurely stroll along Malecon, and look for gifts at Isla Vida.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Mon): get interesting insight from Tours and then enjoy the sand and surf at Tamarindo Beach. Keep things going the next day: head off the coast to Culebrita Island and then enjoy the sand and surf at Zoni Beach.
