On the 29th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: shop like a local with Ginza and then wander the streets of Odaiba.

Melbourne, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Melbourne to Tokyo is minus 1 hour. Getting from Kanazawa to Kyoto by train takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In December in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 13°C during the day and 4°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Ise.

Kick off your visit on the 10th (Tue): appreciate the extensive heritage of Island Countryside Settlement, then take a memorable drive along Nagurao Bridge, then identify plant and animal life at Kabira Ishizaki Manta Scramble, and finally get engrossed in the history at Ishigaki Yaima Village. Do a combination of taxi and flight from Matsue to Ishigaki in 8.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of train, bus, and flight. In December, Ishigaki is much hotter than Matsue - with highs of 26°C and lows of 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Wed) so you can catch the ferry to Iriomote-jima.
