Get some historical perspective at Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo Temple. Get a sense of the local culture at Dotonbori and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Go for a jaunt from Kyoto to Osaka to see Osaka Castle about 1h 10 min away.
