Tourism in Liberia has been growing since the opening of its airport, with more and more international visitors using the city as a starting point for explorations of the country's northwest.
Start off your visit on the 3rd (Fri): get impressive views of Rincon de La Vieja National Park, explore the galleries of Church of La Ermita La Agonia, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Immaculate Church of Concepcion de Maria. Keep things going the next day: explore the galleries of Costa Rica'n Art Craft, stroll through Hacienda El Viejo Wetlands, then browse the exhibits of Hidden Garden Art Gallery, and finally meet some fierce fish with a shark diving experience.

You can drive from La Fortuna de San Carlos to San Jose in 3 hours. Other options are to take a shuttle; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 30°C in January, and nighttime lows around 21°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a bus to Manuel Antonio.
