Tavira has succeeded at escaping the flood of tourism that has affected other coastal Portuguese towns over the years.
Get outdoors at Cabanas de Tavira beach and Praia Monte Gordo. Get a sense of the local culture at Tavira d'Artes and Igreja de Sao Lourenco de Almancil. Venture out of the city with trips to Garrao Nascente Beach (in Vale do Garrao) and Canastra (in Estoi). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Costabeach Tavira Island and Tours.

The allure of the beaches and the town's historical center draw visitors to Lagos, a coastal destination in the Barlavento region of the Algarve.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Praia Da Rocha and Telheiro Beach. Take a break from the city and head to Falesia Beach and Ponta Da Piedale. Venture out of the city with trips to Praia da Marinha (in Caramujeira), Praia do Amado (in Aljezur) and Praia da Cordoama (in Vila do Bispo). Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at Praia Vale Dos Homens, stop by Casa do "Vo" Serafim, and enjoy the sand and surf at Tres Castelos Beach.

Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and Belém Tower. Head to Avenida da Liberdade and Rossio Squarefor plenty of shopping. Getting from Lagos to Lisbon by car takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of bus and flight. Traveling from Lagos in July, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be slightly colder in Lisbon, with lows of 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Thu) early enough to travel to Porto.
