Start off your visit on the 19th (Sun): stroll through Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, then get to know the resident critters at The Bat Jungle, and then browse the exhibits of Alas y Raices. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: explore and take pictures at Ecological Sanctuary, take in the views from Santa Elena Skywalk, and then see the interesting displays at Chorotega Arts & Crafts.

Cartago is a city in Costa Rica, about 25km east of the capital, San José. Santuario Nacional Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles and Ruins of the Church of Carthage will appeal to history buffs. Change things up with these side-trips from Cartago: Guayabo National Monument (in Turrialba) and Iglesia de San Jose de Orosi and the Museum (in Orosi). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Ruins of Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Limpia Concepcion, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia Maria Auxiliadora, delve into the distant past at Ruinas de Cartago, and hunt for treasures at Cartago Central Market.

Drive from Manuel Antonio to Cartago in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In April, plan for daily highs up to 33°C, and evening lows to 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Sat) early enough to travel to Tamarindo.

Tamarindo

Surfing remains the main reason to take a trip to Tamarindo, as the beachside town is mostly known for its excellent waves.
We've included these beaches for you: Playa Conchal and Playa Avellana. Step out of Tamarindo to go to Las Catalinas and see Playa Dantita, which is approximately 54 minutes away.
