Fajardo is a small city and municipality in Puerto Rico (U.S.) located in the east region of the island, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Ceiba and east of Luquillo. On the 2nd (Sat), head off the coast to Icacos Island and then stop by Caribbean Trading Company Store.

Traveling by car from San Juan to Fajardo takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle. Expect a daytime high around 32°C in January, and nighttime lows around 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sun) early enough to ride a ferry to Culebra.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Get in touch with nature at Flamenco Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. Relax by the water at Zoni Beach and Tamarindo Beach. There's more to do: examine the collection at Museo Historico de Culebra and get a taste of local nightlife at Mamacitas Restaurant and Bar.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
Get in touch with nature at Crashboat Beach and Tres Palmas Marine Reserve. There's still lots to do: visit a coastal fixture at El Faro Lighthouse.

You can do a combination of ferry and car from Culebra to Rincon in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, shuttle, and car. In January in Rincon, expect temperatures between 34°C during the day and 28°C at night. On the 9th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Cabo Rojo.
