On the 1st (Sun), explore the striking landscape of Thingvellir National Park and then get impressive views of Hekla. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 2nd (Mon): take in the dramatic scenery at Gullfoss, witness a stunning natural landmark at Strokkur, then enjoy some diversion at Fridheimar, and finally soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers.

London, UK to Geysir is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of car and flight. When traveling from London in January, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Geysir: temperatures range from 4°C by day to 1°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Tue) so you can go by car to Vik.

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Tue): appreciate the history behind Voyages Friendship Statue, take in the spiritual surroundings of Vik Church, then kick back and relax at Black Sand Beach, and finally admire the sheer force of Skogafoss. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at Skogasafn, Head underground at Rutshellir Cave, then glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and finally explore the striking landscape at Dyrholaey.

Traveling by car from Geysir to Vik takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Thu) so you can travel to Akureyri.

Often referred to as Iceland's second city, Akureyri offers an array of cultural attractions in a scenic setting.
Visit Holar Cathedral and Matthiasarhus for their historical value. Step off the beaten path and head to Catholic Church (Katholska Kirkjan) and The Aviation Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Akureyri: Vioimyrarkirkja Church (in Varmahlid) and Hvoll Folk Museum of Dalvik Iceland (in Dalvik).
