Head up the hillside and stand beneath Big Buddha Phuket, a 45 m (148 ft) statue watching over the surrounding landscape and settlements. Begun only a decade ago as a donation-funded project, the giant structure has come to encapsulate a sense of the spiritual and social character of Phuket. Offering extensive views of the surrounding area--and a peaceful break from the urban bustle--the statue's grounds serve as a popular meeting spot, a revered place of worship, and the endpoint of many hikes. Big Buddha Phuket Reviews
Our driver brought us to the big buddha temple and it was Perfect place. The buddha is beautiful covered in white marble. A wonderful peaceful place. The view was nice. more »
The site itself is pretty simple but he Big Buddha and all the related Buddhas around the temple are beautiful. If you walk to the far corner you'll likely see monkeys playing in the trees and... more »
Very cool site. A lot of amazing views. I would recommend driving here the walk is too long and some of the first time or new scooter riders couldn’t make it up the curves and uphills. But if you are good with the motorcycle you should be fine. Not too great for shopping and souvenirs because it is a tourist attraction so everything is overpriced compared to the rest of the city. At the end you can even get blessed by a monk. He ties a blessed string around your wrist. Although it is free it is highly recommended to give a donation out of respect. Overall a very pleasant experience. One thing is. Do not stop on the way up the mountain for the elephants. Most of them are chained and abused in this area. There a plenty of sanctuary’s to visit where it is cruelty free.
Your ears are going to pop because of the high altitude. But once you get to the top of the mountain where Big Budda sits, the panorama view is spectacular. There are bathrooms available so don't worry about conserving your liquids. During lots of water as the sun beats on you while up there. However, there are a few sheltered seating areas you can sit and enjoy the great breeze. You will also find a number of small shops and stalls selling snacks, fruits, water and other food stuff.
