Take a tour of Bangkok's Klongs--the canals and waterways that crisscross the Thai capital--in a private long-tail boat. Admire the buildings which teeter on the edge of the banks, catch a glimpse of locals going about their daily lives, grab a cold beer or some refreshing fruit from a passing boat vendor, and spot the birds, fish, and other wildlife that thrive even in the heart of the city. In addition to being one of the best ways for sightseers to explore Bangkok, the klongs provide some of the quickest public transport here, avoiding the congestion that plagues the city's roads. Make Klongs a centerpiece of your Bangkok vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Bangkok online trip maker .

There are all kinds of excursions, at all prices. You can negotiate, especially if you are with friends... and feel like you're still having it. Yes, well, a conversion of prices into euros will help you put things into perspective. Personally, I opted for a 2H race from Wat Arun to the Taling Chan floating market and then back to Wat Arun. We were three in the boat, it was nice. Obviously, the pilot stopped near a boat that sold souvenirs and drinks: we didn't take anything and he left without any problems. The pilot slows down in front of some buildings, gives us bread to throw at carp, stop to admire monitor lizards or on demand to make pictures. We then stayed 45 MN at the floating market: it is small but it is one of the closest to the city center and you can eat there at reasonable prices. A traditional music group performs there regularly. On the way back we wanted to be dropped off on the other bank (that of Wat Pho): beware, on each pier, you have to pay to disembark! So we decided to go back to the departure Pier and take a classic (inexpensive) ferry.
