You only need to make a quick stop to see the temple, and can easily combine it with a tour of Bangkok’s other historical sites. Do not miss the souvenir shops across the road. Visited as part of a bus tour to Ayutthaya. Well maintained wooden Buddha in the open air. Very large and awesome. Ubiquitous gift, souvenir and snack shops adjacent to the site. Trick is to head directly to the Buddha upon leaving bus so you can photograph without throngs surrounding!
The ruins here aren't much compared to others in the area so unless you're Buddhist or very interested to see a fairly large stone reclining Buddha I'd give it a pass. Also be aware that though it looks close to Wat Phra Si Sanphet it's actually a long walk to the entrance, and you might cross some rather territorial dogs on the way.
