Palacio De Cristal originally served as a greenhouse for exotic plants, but now houses art exhibits sponsored by the Reina Sofia. Built entirely of iron and glass, it reaches 22 m (72 ft) at its highest. Watch ducks and geese swim in pond next to the structure and walk around the pond to get views of the palace from a distance. Bring a picnic and rest in the grass in the surrounding park. Put Palacio De Cristal at the forefront of your travel plans using our Madrid trip itinerary builder tool .

  • It is a must visit in Madrid and, in addition, it is free! Strolling through the park of El Retiro you will find this metal and glass palace where you can take numerous beautiful photos, by day or at sunset, is beautiful. Today art exhibitions are held inside.

  • It's definitely a beautiful thing. It is located inside the Retiro Park, so I know by itself it is nice that around it is full of trees. Inside it is beautiful too and is very well maintained. It's different from the other things one can know! I recommend 100% go if you are in Madrid.

  • It's a big attrium like structure with art installations inside it. It's a good place to chill. There is a small pond with a beautiful fountain in the center. There are lots of turtles and ducks. A cute hangout place. Definitely a place to visit when you are in Madrid
  • Very pretty and had an impressive temporary display of sculptures inside during our visit. Also, free to visit, which is nice. Requires a good stroll through the park to find it.
