Torre de Collserola is a uniquely designed tower located on the Tibidabo hill in the Serra de Collserola, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was designed by the architect Sir Norman Foster and by the Spanish civil engineers Julio Martínez Calzón and Manuel Julià Vilardell. This emblematic tower was built in 1991 by the construction company Cubiertas y MZOV S.A. for the 1992 Summer Olympics. It features a pod for floor space like many towers but uses guy wires for lateral support like a mast. Mainly used as a TV and radio transmitter, this futuristic design provides the highest viewpoint over the city. The top antenna reaches 288.4 m (946 ft) and the top of the pod, which has thirteen floors, reaches 152 m (499 ft). The highest point of this tower is actually the highest place you could be in the city of Barcelona. Before you head to Barcelona, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Barcelona trip planner , to make sure you see all that Barcelona has to offer, including Torre de Collserola.
The tenth floor of the pod is open to the public.
The tower has a space for event organisations, composed by a reception room and an observation desk set 560 metres above sea level.
The tower has a hollow slip-formed, reinforced concrete main shaft of only 4.5 m diameter, which reduces to a mere 3 m to hold a radio mast which telescopes from 2.7 m to 0.7 m. The thirteen floors are surrounded by a perimeter of open stainless steel grilles and suspended from the shaft by three primary vertical steel trusses.
The total weight of the tower is 3,000 tons.
A large number of cables keep the tower upright:
The lower guys are composed three series of 180 parallel strand cables (15 mm diameter) made from pre-tensioned high-strength steel with a polyethylene covering, each; The upper guys are made of three series of 7 aramid fibre cables in parallel (56 mm diameter), each terminated with a resin socket. The three upper cables have a combined breaking strength of 4,200 tons.

It was built on the occasion of the Barcelona Olympic Games 92 and from there most of the audiovisual links of the metropolitan area and the province are made. It is the tallest structure in Barcelona and Catalonia as well as the 2nd highest telecommunications tower in Spain. It has a public viewpoint on level 10 from where you can see the city of Barcelona. It has a height of 288 m. and was designed by the architect Norman Foster, the Arup engineering and the road engineers Julio Martínez Calzón and Manuel Julia Vilardell. It should be noted that the Torre de Collserola also has catering services for companies, where you can hold any event. It has a reception and aperitif room, a multipurpose room for business meetings and the viewing floor has a capacity of up to 100 diners, where you can enjoy its views towards Barcelona or the region of Vallés Occidental.

A few days ago we celebrated with 60 friends my birthday, with ASPIC catering, a very fun piano bar, a fantastic magician and a very marching DJ and it was really a very fun and new evening. The panoramic elevator and the incredible 360-degree night views were incredible. For those who have vertigo there is a "closed" elevator Highly recommended but with a reliable catering like ASPIC and an event company like Atlanta that advises you. Without a doubt, a great new experience
Be careful about trusting the schedule posted online. I arrived on a Sunday around 5:20 PM intending to watch the sunset (perfect timing). The schedule said they are open until 7:45 PM. I spoke with the gentelman selling tickets (I speak fluent Spanish), and he said the last group was about to leave and I would not make it (I hear it is a quick ride). I requested to walk up it using the stairs in that case and he rejected this offer as well without providing an explanation. I must give this the lowest rating possible due to objectively poor customer service and a lack of good faith. From what I could tell they (he) likely just wanted to close early since there was not a big line. I chose not to argue the issue and instead would like to inform the public of how I was treated. I will say the surrounding area is completely worth the trip however and there is much to explore.
