Museu del Modernisme, Barcelona

4.1
#23 of 110 in Museums in Barcelona
Two floors of art await at Museu del Modernisme, where you can find items by the likes of Antoni Gaudi, Ramon Casas, Santiago Rusinol, and Eusebi Arnau. The museum building itself remains a major example of Modernist architecture, its ground floor designed a bit like a furniture showroom. There, you'll discover the Gaudi exhibit, with several pieces from building designed by the master himself. Other displays include works by Gaudi's less known but equally talented contemporaries, including a few pieces by Josep Puig i Cadafalch. Don't miss the basement, which features mosaic-covered pillars and columns displaying Modernist paintings and statues. • I have gone several times because I love it, I love the theme of modernism and I particularly love this museum for how well distributed everything is and the peace that is breathed in it. Today I visited, and free admission until July 21, 2019, the temporary exhibition dedicated to the Catalan painter Josep Cusachs i Cusachs, fully dedicated to the castrense theme. All the paintings on display are images of the military world, both individual portraits and group scenes, but it is worth contemplating them for their realism and perfect creation and recreation of the themes depicted. And the horses, are deliciously drawn and painted, everything in one set is a wonder and a gift for the senses. It is worth taking advantage of this exhibition, which, I repeat, is free of charge until 21 July 2019.

  • Years ago I had already visited the Museum and frankly I loved it. The modernist furniture is spectacular. Yesterday I went to visit the Cusachs exhibition with some friends and we enjoyed it a lot. We were impressed by the light, perfection of horses and the detailing of the Spanish painter specializing in military subjects. In addition, we were pleasantly surprised that the entrance to the museum, as well as the visit to the Cusachs exhibition (until 21 July 2019) was FREE
