  • Unfortunately, it is a little-known museum and both the collections (especially those of Romanesque and Gothic art) and the building itself (it is essential to look out over the viewpoint above the neighboring Tinell Hall) make it a place that every tourist should visit in Barcelona. From a personal point of view, I loved Mr. Marés' library and would free up space among all his collections because it overwhelms so much key, fan, cane, doll.... (horror vacui) and deserves the rest of the pieces seen on the first two floors.

  • Amazing collection - a serious collection of religious artefacts from the area and then an explosion of his private collection [ loved the fans] and then pieces of his work. We visited on a Sunday mor...  more »

  • Interesting museum with a large collection of religious statues and artwork. Upstairs is his personal collection which was astounding. Millions of items from keys to menus, mini figurines, cigars, hand fans, clocks, etc. If you go on Sundays after 15:00 admission is free.
  • Amazing collection of beautiful objects including religious sculptures, fans, pottery, metalwork and textiles. The cool, quiet interior of the museum was a welcome and peaceful break from the busy streets outside. There are such a variety of items on display and the old display cabinets themselves are lovely, I found myself intrigued by items I didn't even think I would be interested in. I just wish there had been a bit more interpretation in the upper floors so I knew what some of the more obscure things were or when pieces dated from.
