  • It is a pity that closed the restaurant, who worked in the mansion in my favorite area of L'eixample 24 years and now remains only to admire the façade of the building, best House of Barcelona in 1900 year. the House was built by Gaudi for three years, commissioned by the widow of textile manufacturer Re Martira Kalveta-I-Carbonell and was designed as a tenement house. In draft home Calvet no Gothic and medieval style. Mostly used elements of the Baroque style with the coat of arms of Catalonia on the façade, a Horn of plenty. Elegant decorative details delicately "tell" about ex-owners of ownership: embossed mushroom over niche symbolizes favourite hobby, the columns at the entrance in the form of coils-family production, under the roof of the sculpture is a portrait of the father of the owner, the image of Cypress-hospitality, sculptures of Saints — serving faith. Cute mansion, but not my favorite style

  • Calvet House was commissioned by Juliana Pinto, widow of Pere Mártir Calvet, Gaudi and his children Eduard and Pere. Eduard Calvet was a major cotton manufacturer. Gaudí designed the House in Baroque style catalan, typical of the 18th century, when he was 45 years in 1898. Without requesting it City Council awarded him the prize for the best building built in 1899 in Barcelona. Today only you can access the low, in one is the chocolate factory Bresco and on the other the restaurant Casa Calvet.
