  • Building and the headquarters of the City Hall, is located in the historic centre of the city, opposite Placa de Sant Jaume and the Palace of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Its construction has been done through several centuries. The main façade dates from 1847 and is of neo-classical style, although their Gothic origin is 1369, when they built the Saló de Cent where the Council ruled until its closure in 1714. Neoclassical structure, the central part is being conducted to highlight it on the first floor with four large columns with Ionic capitals forming the presidential balcony, where was installed a plaque and the coat of arms of the city. A clock was placed on this Board. The facade is topped with a penthouse forming a pediment with coat of arms of the city. At the bottom on both sides of the entry in some niches are sculptures of King Jaime I and the Counselor Joan Fiveller. The sides are formed by two bodies of three floors with large arched windows on the ground floor, windows with balcony on the first floor and smaller windows in the second.

  • We were surprised to find this light and music show going on as we wandered around Barcelona on an early September evening, we hadn't realised there was a big festival going on when we booked last minute flights. Excellent time of year to visit, so much going on,mostly free.
  • This was a really eye-opening building, and fantastic that it was free entry. I absolutely loved the Chroniclers room. Well worth a visit, take note of all of the detail in the floors and the chairs: describing all of the guilds and trades.
