Playa Pata Prieta, Isla de Vieques

#4 of 12 in Beaches in Isla de Vieques
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
As it's name suggests, you'll rest in seclusion at Playa Pata Prieta, a tropical spot for those looking for a more quiet and private alternative. White sand gently curves around the cove, which sits inside Vieques National Wildlife Refuge. The beachfront is lined with palm trees surrounded by thick, wild plant life. Snorkel among the marine life and watch for manta rays here. There are no paved roads to this beach, and be aware that you have to climb down rough landscape to reach the beach; it may not be easy for the elderly. • This was one of our favorite beaches. We tucked our beach chairs and cooler under a tree for shade and went back and forth to the water which was close by and just a nice size little bay/cove area...  more »
  • Small cove beach on the southern coast of Vieques closer to esperanza. There is snorkeling here, and the water is very calm!  more »
