#6 of 14 in Things to do in El Yunque National Forest
Reaching 1,080 m (3,543 ft), El Yunque stands as the second-tallest peak in Puerto Rico. The mountain has a variety of clearly marked hiking trails that range in difficulty from easy to more demanding. Bring waterproof shoes and raincoats to keep you covered in frequent showers. You may also want to have a bathing suit and towel on hand, in case you decide to swim in one of the designated waterfalls and ponds of this exotic paradise. The peak is nearly always covered in mist, which may block the usually mesmerizing view. Our El Yunque National Forest travel route builder site makes visiting El Yunque and other El Yunque National Forest attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • One of the most beautiful and peaceful places/parks I have ever been to, literally, serene. A nice drive up the mountain, there are a few places to grab snacks going up as well as drinks. Be advised that as of this writing most of the trails and major areas for hiking are closed along with the main ranger station and information center. But either way it’s worth a look and a walk on the open trails. If you come to Puerto Rico please come see this national treasure. Just loved it and will be taking my little girl there when she is old enough.
