Holy Trinity Church, Funchal

4.5
The spiritual heart of Funchal's British community since offering its first Anglican service in 1822, Holy Trinity Church resides in a tranquil location near the city's central area. The church provides a peaceful place to rest and worship, and also gives visitors the chance to meet local residents and take part in various social clubs and special events. The cream-colored building, designed by the British consul Henry Veitch, features an easily recognizable dome. Step inside the baptistery to see a statue of Philippa of Lancaster, whose 10 children included Henry the Navigator, Portugal's famed patron of explorers.
