Admire one of Iceland's most unique natural sites, Kerið. Formed more than six millennia ago, the volcanic crater is about 55 m (180 ft) deep and 270 m (890 ft) across. Look inside and see the aquamarine lake at the bottom, which derives its striking color from minerals in the soil. Most of the crater's moss-covered slopes are steep, but one is gentle enough to descend to the waterline. Take care when walking down, as there are no steps and the ground can be slippery. The crater is close to the road, and there is plenty of space to park nearby. It's a crater so interesting and not particularly interesting if you know what I mean! We went when it was covered in snow and the water in the crater was frozen, but it was good, albeit cold, to walk around the perimeter.

Wonderful natural attraction, be very careful descending into the crater as it is slippy, I speak from experience having fallen over. Take a walk around the rim to fully appreciate the landscape which is equally as stunning
