Melt away in the warm pools of Blue Lagoon, a manmade lagoon filled with water that's heated naturally by a nearby lava flow. True to its name, the lagoon's water reflects a nearly opaque shade of brilliant blue due to the high mineral content. Try the different pools of varying temperatures, and pamper yourself with spa treatments, such as mud masks, a sauna, or steam baths. Climb up to the viewing platform to see a view of the lagoon below and the rolling green hills set behind. Rich in minerals, such as silica and sulphur, the blue waters are said to be healing for skin conditions, such as psoriasis. A research center at the lagoon is working on developing cures for other skin diseases. Book your tickets in advance via the attraction's website and be aware that slots fill up days and even weeks beforehand during the busy season. One of the best experience s of my life. Definitely ticked off the bucket list. You arrive to a lava walkway that winds its way to the entrance where you are greater with your first sight of the fabled waters with their white blue milky colour. You can feel the heat from the water and before you even walk in you can walk around the outside which is worth doing. Inside your orientation begins with a wristband that not only gives you your first drink but allows you charge to it so you don't need to worry about money. This wristband also allows you to use the lockers which are a bit techy and I did worry when some else opened whilst I was trying to close mine. The staff so had that sorted. Then to the showers sans bathing suit. You can go in the cubicles. Lather and I mean lather your hair in the free conditioner provided. The water can be dehydrating. Then walk out to the freezing air hang your towel on your locker number and submerge yourself in the hot salty water. Most of all take a plastic bag or cover for your phone 😉
So much fun! Facility is very good and convenient It’s a great experience like playing in the warm mineral milky sea. The pool is large enough to cope with large group of visitors. The operation is good and simple. The receptionist explain clearly what to do and what will you get. The only challenge is the route to the pool is open air. It was raining and very windy on the day we went so we have to fight through the rain and strong wind to get to the main building. The locker room can be improved by putting clearer operating guide.
