  • The Alcázar de Diego Colón is now a very nice Museum in which recreate as lived the Spaniards at the beginning of the 16th century. You find here a wide variety of clothing, instruments, furniture, paintings, religious images, all of the time. This located in a large square and its surroundings there are some restaurants. Not to be missed for lovers of history.

  • The Alcázar de Colón or Viceregal Palace of Don Diego Colón is a palace situated in the city Colonial of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, which was built on a plot close to the cliffs overlooking the Ozama River, granted to Diego Colón, son of the discoverer of America, Cristóbal Colón, by King Fernando el Católico, so build a home for him and his descendants on the island Hispaniola, which became in 1509 as a Governor and where he currently operates the Museo Alcázar de Colón. The only known residence of a member of the family is Colon as well as the birthplace of Cristobal located in Genoa. In the Palace were born Juana, Isabel, Luis and Cristóbal Colón de Toledo, sons of don Diego Colón and his spouse Mrs. María Álvarez de Toledo. Diego Colón died in Spain in 1526 but María Álvarez de Toledo, his widow, stayed in it until his death in 1549. Three generations of the Colón de Toledo family inhabited it, possibly until 1577. Ownership of the Palace was the subject of litigation for nearly two centuries from that year. Possibly in 1586 the English pirate Francis Drake, during his invasion and the island of Hispaniola destroyed or took valuables from the former home of Diego Colón.

  • I think that this monument should change her name, Enriquillo Alcázar, Alcazar Indians, Alcázar Caonabo, Alcazar Sebastian Lemba or any of the parents of the homeland defenders of it, but not a tyrant, robber and rapist as it was Cristóbal Colon, I think that it has been an error named works and monument by someone who only did bad things, at this point we know or we should know that no is the real America and much less Américo Vespucio because America was already populated would then, because you are rewarded with names? to work in his honor? Because Spain has written history does not sell it as a super hero when it is the opposite, when just the is the villain. We are going to keep buying the story that do not sell Spain, I think that it is time to clarify errors committed by our ancestors. Other places have already begun destroying all those who want to dress up to Columbus as well, el salvador must rehacir that failure, remove the legacy we have created about Colon, all the time we heard that it rewards good. Now no is if the President see as good and valid deception. It should compensate people who have fought for the welfare of humanity, not that enslaves her and violates their rights. As well as there are no works in honor of Pedro Santana much less there should be colon
