Macao Beach, Punta Cana

4.4
#2 of 396 in Outdoors in Dominican Republic
Rest among the coconut palms at Macao Beach, one of the Dominican Republic's more secluded beaches. With views of coastline and cliffs stretching as far as the eye can see, the picturesque beach provides a quiet spot to sunbathe or take a refreshing dip in the sea. Amenities at the beach, including toilets, are limited, so be sure to bring everything you need with you. • The sea is super cute and perfect for surfing or if you like waves. The view is divine, but the beach is a total filth. People throw dirt on all sides and the dirt that we found was not that day, several days earlier was already to arrive 10:30 in the morning and we were very few. She is full of localcitos to eat and you reach the food to the beach. Rent a Sun umbrella and 2 lounge chairs was u $$ 10 all day. The umbrellas are all cracked and the very worn armchairs. It was a disappointment that people are talking about Macao as a paradise, and for me there is. You become crazy selling everything (although the people are very friendly and educated) and so that you can make pictures with macaws and monkeys. Not recommend except by sea.

  • Gorgeous relaxing beach in a cove. Beautiful sunrises, powder white sand and some small sea shells. You can also purchase seafood from the locals & they'll prepare it for you!
  • Beautiful beach! Few nice bars and places to eat, however bit overpriced. Not as crowded as other beaches, however not as easy to reach either. It's either significant walk from the local minibus stop or you need to take taxi/mototaxi.
  • Amazing beautiful beach! Bring your surf board or boogie board as it is a very wavy beach. The only bad thing is the locals constantly trying to sell you things.
  • The beach was awesome, water is too salty and the sun doesn't burn that much. As a guide I recommend it to everyone.
  • Nice beach, alot people, fishmans, not clean beach

Where to stay in Punta Cana

Upscale hotels and luxurious beach resorts dominate Punta Cana. The region features two main tourist hubs--north, around El Cortecito, and south, near Juanillo. El Cortecito boasts the widest range of options, with everything from budget surf clubs and hostels to 5-star resorts jostling for space along the beach. Juanillo offers a quieter, more luxurious ambiance, as well as excellent proximity to the airport.
