  • Every time I pass through San Jose I take the opportunity to visit some place iconic. This time I chose the Gold Museum. This fantastic place, sheltered beneath the Plaza de la culture, offers from samples of how the Costa Rican indigenous ancestors used precious metals, to the evolution of the local currency. They also have temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. In short, 3 levels of pure emcion and learning.

  • If you are in San Jose, the museums of the Central Bank of Costa Rica are a great option. Located in an underground complex called the Plaza de la Cultura, is located in the center of the city, very easy to access. The Gold Museum model is great. The pieces are of great beauty.

  • Very interesting exhibits set in what can only be described as a Bond villain lair. Very imposing structure indeed. Its right in the city centre too which makes it a doddle to get to. Would very much recommend a visit here. Take the time to read the well laid out descriptions, there are some very interesting things to learn.
  • Very nice museum and great place to escape the heat. It is possible to buy 1 ticket to visit 3 museums, the gold museum, the national museum and the jade museum. It was very quiet inside and the displays were nice and bright. All information was in both Spanish and English. Besides the static displays there were also some interactive displays as well as video and audio. The museum shop was rather small and focusses on gold jewelry and books.
