Museo de Arte Costarricense
Soak up some Costa Rican culture at Museo de Arte Costarricense, an intimate space housing the nation's largest collection of art. The intriguing architecture of the museum reflects its previous life as the country’s international airport terminal, converted in 1955 to open its doors to both foreign and homegrown fine art. A collection of over 6,400 works of Costa Rican paintings, sculptures, photography and printmaking dating back to the mid-19th century are scattered across the walls and grounds of the charming gallery. Visit the display rooms of artist Juan Manuel Sanchez to appreciate a diverse array of work from the national treasure. You can also admire an ever-growing collection of works from leading international artists. Discover how to plan a San Jose trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

This is a go-to museum in La Saban Park. Entrance is for free and opens every day of the week except Monday although with varying time. You've got to enjoy contemporary art pieces both indoor and outdoor. The place offers wide space for parking. The place is generally clean and the attendant is friendly.

This was an awesome museum. The building itself was absolutely beautiful and the walls of the Golden Room were fascinating. Would absolutely recommend to anyone with an interest in art or the history of Costa Rica. It's right by a lovely park as well. And the best part of all is its free!!
