Forest Alive Reviews
Wir lernten Andrés Alvarado zufällig in seinem sehr gut sortierten Outdoor-Laden kennen, weil er uns in perfektem Deutsch ansprach. He lives and transports his profession as a naturalist, nature guide and nature filmmaker with a rarely experienced passion, love and intensity. His extensive knowledge is impressive and his ability to convey it is so vivid and entertaining that one can only be infected by his enthusiasm. He urged us to slow down to enjoy nature in Selvatura Park in all its diversity. We were uniquely lucky to be able to experience a sleepy howler monkey sunbathing on the highest and longest suspension bridge at a height of about 60 meters, which gradually awoke and then became loudly noticeable. But even without animal encounters, a guided and so private tour through the rain and cloud forest of Monteverdes is an overwhelming experience and one realizes how small and inconspicuous man is in view of this size. Nature is given the greatest respect here. Andrés is very flexible and spontaneous in his guided tours and adapts to the wishes of his guests. Again and again, he makes his profound knowledge in various areas incorporate entertainingly. By the way, we learned how to take the perfect photo. A little gimmick in addition were the lively hummingbirds in the hummingbird garden, which flew on one's finger at the sugar water potions. Conclusion: A guided tour with Andrés is highly recommended and should be on the agenda when visiting Costa Rica. Pura Vida y gracias! Jorgito and Susanne
Wir waren mit Andres und seinem Mitarbeiter auf einer ca. 3 Std. Nachttour im Nebelwald unterwegs. Spektakulär!! He has incredible expertise, speaks super German and even discovers sleeping hummingbirds in the branches in the dark. Incredibly! From small insect (stick locust, changing leaf) to bats, snakes and bioluminizing fungi, you will discover something new every 5 minutes, explained and explained in a well-founded way. Andres even has night vision devices and thermal imaging cameras with it. A unique experience and worth every penny, no comparison with other off-the-shelf vendors.
Andres is a great guide. We spent half a day exploring Selvatura park. He talked about different types of forests, plants and species that live there. We saw 8 quetzals and many other birds and insects. Great scenery, beautiful flowers and good vibes. Highly recommended.
I totally agree with the comments below! Traveling with two kids (8 and 4 years) it was important for us to have a german speaking guide. Andres was amazing and speaks very well german has he studied at German Humboldt school in San José. He‘s very passionate about what he does. His Bio on the website is impressing! The kids loved him. We had a night- and a day walk with him. Both are highly recommended! We also loved the little store very much. Amazing collection! All of the staff are very nice.
