Plaza Dorrego, Buenos Aires

4.1
#115 of 896 in Things to do in Buenos Aires
Placed in the heart of the city, Plaza Dorrego serves as a square boasting a long history and a popular present-day scene. When you go, look for historical buildings erected during the 19th century when the area served as the main residential neighborhood. The old architecture blends with new structures hosting cafes, bars, pubs, and numerous antique stores. If you hear lively music, check for musical and dance exhibitions like tango displays. If possible, see if you can catch the market that takes place each Sunday when vendors offer antiques, crafts, jewelery, period clothing, and much more. It is a very particular and picturesque place: is a nice square located in the old district of the city of Buenos Aires. Has a wide variety of gastronomic offers, you can enjoy rich food and drink; and there is a fair where you can buy crafts and antique collectibles. It's a nice walk to do alone, with family or friends.

In the square posts with sale of antiques and the neighbouring streets become pedestrian and you can see dancers of tango, musicians, etc.

You get to it without proposing it to you. Following people. In the middle of the stalls assembled every Sunday. It is small, beautiful, endearing. And it has that small charm that makes that regardless of the day of the season, invites you to think. A nearby coffee is a good reason to stop along the way.

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
