Feria De San Pedro Telmo, Buenos Aires

4.1
Sundays come alive at Feria De San Pedro Telmo as the street turns into a buzzing artisan market. Browse through the fascinating antique stalls selling almost everything you can imagine, or check out the array of artisan leather products. You can satisfy your hunger with typical Argentinean street food and wash it down with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Groove along to the live music performances taking place all along the street, or join the weekly tango event. Pickpockets operate in the crowded street market, so keep a vigilant eye on your valuables. • Only open on Sundays, this is a must if you are staying anywhere near San Telmo. We loved San Telmo to begin with, so it was particularly enjoyable to return on Sunday for la feria. Lots of cool thing...  more »
  • We went on Sunday morning. Very busy but not impossible to walk ... it's great for souvenirs and to buy products of Mafalda (including the statue stands there) ... is enormous, you have to walk a lot, I recommend!

  • The fair has some nice handcrafted items from Argentina and Peru, such as jewelry and alpaca wool clothes. There is also a lot of mass market kitsch. The only public toilet is in the San Telmo market building.
  • We really enjoyed our time walking through this market which has a large variety of local products to shop around, which we did. Great hancrafted Argentinean products. Does get pretty crowded, which is the only negative, but good overall. Make sure you take plenty of pesos should you have the urge to buy things.
  • Wide variety of books, I bought many there, highly recommended. On weekends there are many people, but the prices are very good. Good place to walk and buy antiques.
  • Aclassic and a very tourist acclaimed spot. To spend the whole day during the weekend and every night for a drink at any bar.
  • It is a flea market/fair that takes place on Sundays (11am to 5pm), located around Plaza Dorrego. In addition to the antiques stands, which are literally around the Plaza and gave birth to the fair, walking along Defensa Street you can find several stalls, shops and artists selling handicrafts, decorations, clothes, music, etc. There are also several options for eating and drinking, whether on the street or in restaurants (affordable!). Worth the ride and without doubt is a great way to start Sunday in Argentina's capital city.

Where to stay in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires offers an impressive selection of budget-friendly and mid-range lodgings, as well as pricier, more luxurious options for visitors who don't mind splashing out. Good rooms are scattered across town, but your best bet for economical hostels remains San Telmo, a neighborhood on the edge of downtown. For boutique establishments and international five-star hotels, head to Palermo, Recoleta, or Puerto Madero, upscale neighborhoods drawing the majority of foreign visitors.
